The Munich Residence was the political and cultural centre of the Wittelsbach family for many centuries. By continuously extending the small castle, generations of rulers transformed it into Germany's largest city palace. Today the Residence thus unites highlights from the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods as well as Neoclassicism.

A varied tour will lead us through state rooms, banqueting halls and galleries and will reveal how architecture and art were employed to impressively enact a religious and political world view. With a deliberate display of splendour, the ambitious Wittelsbach family was thus able to prepare its rise to the top of European aristocratic hierarchy.

The tour will be held in German.
