This day trip will take us to Murnau am Staffelsee by train. The Staffelsee lake, located in the foothills of the Alps, is the perfect place to spend a nice day at a lake.

It lies in the district Garmisch-Partenkirchen and is one of the most popular lakes in the region. A nearby 975ha nature reserve to the west of the Staffelsee is a protected biotope for numerous endangered animal and plant species and accommodates water meadows and marshland in the "Murnauer Mulde". Murnau am Staffelsee is well-known for being the birthplace for the art scene "Der Blaue Reiter" (The Blue Rider) including Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Gabriele Münter, Alexej von Jawlensky and Marianne von Werefkin.

We'll begin our excursion  with a themed trail offering views of the Münter House, the Murnau Moss and the mountain range surrounding the Zugspitze (Germany's highest peak). The trail ultimately ends at Lake Murnau. Once there, (and depending on the weather) you'll have the opportunity to enjoy the great view of the Alps simply relaxing at the shore of the lake.

If you want to join the day trip, you need to have a "Deutschlandticket"! Otherwise you need to get yourself a "Bayernticket" for the day. (Tickets are not included in the price and must be paid for by the students themselves.)
